4th Annual Vulture Festival

Vulture Festival

Athens-Clarke County Solid Waste Department Presents the 4th Annual Vulture Festival on Saturday, September 30th, 2017 at the Athens-Clarke County Landfill Outdoor Classroom. The event will begin with a guided Bird Walk led by the Oconee Rivers Audubon Society at 8:00 AM. The festival activities will begin at 9:00 AM and will run until 1:00 PM. Vultures, as well as other birds and native wildlife, will be present throughout the event, along with educational presentations by trained experts from the Bear Hollow Wildlife Trail and Winged Ambassadors: Birds of Prey Program. Fun, educational, family-friendly activities are scheduled throughout the day. Several local artists will also be in attendance, including Lenetta Root from Watkinsville, who will be working on a community mural with the kids and families. We will also be continuing our tradition of the vulture-themed costume contest! Join us dressed as your interpretation of nature's recycler -- the Vulture!
