Teen Card Gamers Group

The Athens-Clarke County Library invites teens ages 11-18 to be a part of the brand new Teen Card Gamers Group on Tuesday, April 29, from 4-5 p.m. in Multipurpose Room A. Fans of Yu-gi-oh!, Pokémon and Magic the Gathering can come play with friends, share ideas and learn more about these and other collectible card games.

The idea for the Teen Card Gamers Group came from the library's Teen Council, a group of young adults who work to build a stronger schedule of teen programs and teen materials at the library. Though Athens offers several opportunities for card gamers to meet, the library offers a central location.

Teen Services Supervisor Lauren Knowlton said that she is always encouraged to try new programs if there is enough interest from patrons. According to Knowlton, the meet-up may expand into a monthly event and may even lead to tournaments and other friendly competitions.

This event is free and registration is not required, but teens are asked to bring their own cards. For more information, visit or call the Young Adult department at (706) 613-3650, ext. 329. The Athens-Clarke County Library is located at 2025 Baxter Street, Athens.
