Flyin West

Youth Voices United and the Athens Area Paine College Club present the Etheridge Arts Ensemble in Pearl Cleage's play "Flyin' West," the story of a small group of African-American women whose lives change when the West opens up for those willing to settle in the harsh, untested region. The setting, actions, and performances of the play's four women and two men reflect themes of determination, racism, and miscegenation (intermarriage between races), feminism, pride, and freedom.  Proceeds to benefit the local Paine College club and the Evelyn G. Etheridge Performing Arts Scholarship.
