'Journey through the Stars'
The Athens-Clarke County Leisure Services Department will present "Journey through the Stars" this summer in the planetarium at Sandy Creek Nature Center.
"Spica and Virgo" is scheduled for Saturday, June 11. Participants will travel to the star Spica and hear stories about Virgo the Maiden.
The next program, set for Saturday, July 9, is entitled "The Man in the Moon." Attendees will celebrate the moon and its unique features and make a few features of their own.
"What is Special about Our Solar System?" is planned for Saturday, August 13. Participants will get a close up view of the planets and see the sun. If weather cooperates, we'll view sunspots using telescopes with solar filters.
Each program takes place 10-11 AM. The program fee is $7 for an Athens-Clarke County family and $10.50 for a non-Athens-Clarke County family. Online registration is underway at www.athensclarkecounty.com/leisure by clicking the "Nature" tab.
Sandy Creek Nature Center, located at 205 Old Commerce Road, is a facility of the Athens-Clarke County Leisure Services Department
