Museum Mix art party

The Georgia Museum of Art at the University of Georgia will host the spring edition of Museum Mix on Thursday, April 21, from 8 p.m. until midnight. This thrice-annual, late-night art party features food and drink, plus music by DJ Lunar Landers and DJ Jack Jigglez. The event is free and open to the public.

Attendees can socialize, dance and visit all the museum's galleries, which will stay open until midnight. Exhibitions on view include "VVOX: Refining Realities," the annual master of fine arts degree candidates' exit show, "David Ligare: California Classicist," "Frank Hartley Anderson: Forging the Southern Printmakers Society," "George Segal: Everyday Apparitions" and "Twists and Turns: Sculptures by Alice Aycock."

DJ Lunar Landers is a local photographer and musician who is known for being a meticulous archivist of rare records. DJ Jack Jigglez is a long-time DJ and Athens resident, whose past shows have included performances at the 40 Watt, Georgia Theatre and Little Kings. The two founded the Manhattan's "Night of 100 Records," where they spin proto-rock and soul music exclusively on 45 RPMs. At Museum Mix, the pair will continue this tradition by playing only vinyl records.

"As a teenager I loved soul, jazz, punk, indie rock and funk. In the last couple of decades our set lists got more nuanced, tailored to the matter at hand," said Jigglez. Guests at Museum Mix can expect a unique mélange of different genres, ranging from the 1990s rock of Tortoise to the free jazz of John Coltrane.

Food for Museum Mix is provided by Insomnia Cookies, Heirloom Café, Chick-fil-A Beechwood and Ike and Jane.

Museum Mix guests are encouraged to share photos and other content from the event on social media using the hashtag #museummix.
