The history of the Lyndon House Arts Center's Juried Exhibitions
The Lyndon House Arts Foundation Center will host "THEN & NOW: How We Got to 40" onThursday, September 24, 6:30 – 8:30 PM at the Lyndon House Arts Center located at 203 Hoyt St.
The public is invited to a festive and entertaining celebration reviewing the importance of the Juried Exhibitions in the life of the Lyndon House Arts Center. The founders, Nancy Lukasiewicz, and the late Ronnie Lukasiewicz will be honored.
Ken Copes and Marilyn Wolf-Ragatz will be the Emcees for the event. Marilyn Wolf-Ragatz is a member of the Cultural Affairs Commission, a retired Art Educator and an art collector and great friend of the Arts Center and arts community. Ken Copes, a physical therapist, worked as an artist and was of the first to create and grow the Lyndon House from a recreation center to an art gallery in 1974.
Marilyn Wolf-Ragatz and Ken Copes will guide attendees through an evening of guest speakers, engaging commentary and stories from past Jurors and community members.
The 45-minute program of speakers will be followed by a desert reception in the Lyndon House Arts Center's Community Room where there will be an ongoing slide show of the Lyndon House's Juried Exhibitions then and now.
This program and evening are free and open to the public. A poster designed to commemorate 40 years of juried exhibitions will be available for Lyndon House Arts Foundation new members and renewing members.
Lyndon House Arts Center is a facility of the Athens-Clarke County Leisure Services Department and is supported in part by the Georgia Council for the Arts (GCA) through the appropriation of the Georgia General Assembly. GCA is a partner of the National Endowment of the Arts.
