Home School Science Program

The Athens-Clarke County Department of Leisure Services will host "Home School Science: Citizen Science" program this winter at Sandy Creek Nature Center.

This special series is designed for those children, ages 4-18, who are home schooled. This winter series will focus on ways to participate in scientific research at home.

The first class, "Frogs" takes place Friday, January 9. Through this session, students will gain a better understanding of why amphibians are vital to understanding the health of wetland habitats.

The second class, "Birds," takes place Friday, February 13. Participants will count winter birds and learn about the environment by identifying them.

Both sessions take place 10:00 a.m. - noon. The program fee is $4 for Athens-Clarke County per student/per session and $6 for a non-Athens-Clarke County resident, per session. Registration is underway and required by the day before the class takes place. Participants may register for one or both classes.
