Journey Through the Stars for Families at SCNC

The Athens-Clarke County Department of Leisure Services will present will Journey through the Stars for Families this winter at the planetarium at Sandy Creek Nature Center.

Participants will explore the great beyond and explore a different aspect astronomy for each class.

The program on Saturday, January 31, has the theme "Animal Super Bowl." Participants are encouraged to dress in their football best as everyone roots for their favorite team and learn about animal stories of the sky.

"Day of the Dawn" is the theme for the session scheduled for Saturday, February 28. NASA's spacecraft, called Dawn, is going to encounter the dwarf planet Ceres. Participants will learn about dwarf planets and space crafts on this day of discovery.

Each program takes place from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. The program fee for each session is $7 for an Athens-Clarke County family and $10 for a non-Athens-Clarke County family. Pre-registration is required one day prior to the program by calling 706-613-3615.
