Meet the Author of THE NEVER GIRLS

Avid Bookshop presents author Kiki Thorpe in celebration of her newest book, A Pinch of Magic. This event will be on Friday, October 17, 2014, from 6:30pm - 7:30pm. There is no admission charge.

Kiki Thorpe's The Never Girls series has sold over one million copies since its debut in 2013. The seventh installment, A Pinch of Magic, continues the saga of four real girls in the fairy world.

Kate, Mia, Lainey, and Gabby are special girls. They know how to travel between their hometown, Pixie Hollow, and Never Land: through a broken slat in a backyard fence! In book #7, big baking plans turn into tiny little cakes when Mia gets a fairy's help for her neighborhood bake sale. Baking-talent fairy Ducie loves visiting the girls, but she's worried about her friends back in Never Land. Can Mia finish the cakes without her?

Booklist reviewed this series as "accessible to beginning chapter-book readers. Recommended where demand for fairy stories is high." The Never Girls series debuted last year to popular acclaim with In a Blink, which became a New York Times bestseller. The Bulletin of the Center for Children's Books praised: "Simple, accessible sentences and plenty of dialogue make this an approachable early chapter book, and the changing viewpoints, as the narration focalizes in turn through each of the four girls and Tinker Bell, give an introductory lesson in perspective to transitioning readers…This will please its target audience like a fine sprinkling of fairy dust."

Kiki Thorpe has written some of the bestselling books in the Disney Fairies chapter-book series, including The Trouble with TinkTink North of Never Land, and Tink in a Fairy Fix. She lives in San Francisco. Visit NeverGirlsBooks.com for games, activities, and more information on the series.
