Teens to Bust Myths at ACC Library

Teens to Bust Myths at the Athens-Clarke County Library

Though the end of summer is no myth, join the Athens-Clarke County Library's Teen Department for a special after-hours MythBusters party from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, August 8. With the help of the UGA Chemistry Grad Students Association, teens will test theories and bust open crazy misconceptions using science.

The program will serve as the end of the 2014 Teen Summer Reading Challenge. Teen patrons will turn in their challenge logs, bid on prize packages and receive other rewards for their work this summer.

Teens will vote on a winner for the summer's alternative book cover art contest. The short story contest winner will also be announced.

The teen reading program this summer is a "challenge" since the Athens-Clarke County Library will be allotting points and prizes to teens not only for reading, but also for attending summer events. All teens who will be in grades six through 12 in fall 2014 are eligible to participate in the summer challenge.

Although the event is free, space is limited and preregistration is required. Please sign up to attend the end of summer party at the Teen Desk, or call the department at (706) 613-3650 ext. 329. The Athens-Clarke County Library is located at 2025 Baxter Street, Athens.
