Henna Workshop for Adults at the ACC Library

Athens-Clarke County Library offers Henna Workshop, June 14

The Athens-Clarke County Library presents a Design Elements: Henna workshop as part of its adult summer reading programming at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 14.

For years now, the library has offered henna workshops for teens, which have been very popular. Due to patron requests, this workshop for adults is now available. Henna has been used since the Bronze Age to dye skin, hair, and cloth using a flowering plant called the henna tree. Prevalent in the Middle East, a recent resurgence in popularity has led to henna being used to create intricate body art all around the world. Henna is traditionally associated with luck and happiness, used in celebrations such as battle victories, birthdays and weddings. The temporary body art lasts from 1-3 weeks, depending on skin type, body chemistry, lifestyle and how long the henna paste is left on.

The "Design Elements: Henna" workshop is part of the library's "Literary Elements" Adult Summer Reading Program. Visit www.athenslibrary.org/athens to learn more and to register for the Adult Summer Reading Program. Other upcoming special events include a writer's workshop on June 26, a cooking demonstration on June 28, and a lecture on the history of anesthesia in July.

This event is free and open to the public, but there is limited availability! Register now to reserve your spot. For more information, please call (706) 613-3650, ext. 356, to register. The Athens-Clarke County Library is located at 2025 Baxter Street, Athens.
