10TH ANNUAL WILD RUMPUS PARADE & SPECTACLE 'PLANET X'

THE 10TH ANNUAL WILD RUMPUS PARADE & SPECTACLE "PLANET X" TO BE HELD IN ATHENS, GA, OCTOBER 26-27, 2018

PROCEEDS TO BENEFIT ATHENS AREA HOMELESS SHELTER

ATHENS, GA-Wild Rumpus director Timi Conley is proud to announce the 10th Annual Wild Rumpus Parade & Spectacle "Planet X" on Friday, October 26th andSaturday, October 27th to be held in various locations in historic Athens, Georgia.  What began 9 years ago as a group of friends coming together in costume to celebrate Halloween has grown into one of the biggest holiday events in the Southeast. This 2-day celebration includes free and ticketed special events, live music, street performers, and a big parade through the streets of downtown Athens enhanced by Athens area bands along the parade route. The parade is free and family-friendly. Patrons are encouraged to dress in costume. Anyone dressed in costume may walk in the parade. All events will take place rain or shine.

Halloween is Athens' own version of Mardi Gras. The annual Wild Rumpus & Spectacle provides an exciting, safe and fun opportunity to showcase the boundless creativity that propels the Athens, Georgia community; it is bubbling stew of artistic self-expression, costuming, and gleeful abandon.  Athens is known as a "Never Never Land" to an active population of wildly creative, experimental artists and musicians and an enormous student population of the University of Georgia. Through tourism and participation, The Wild Rumpus also serves as an economic generator for Athens downtown businesses. Additionally it channels profits from event fundraising to local non-profit organizations that work for the betterment of the community. Proceeds from this year's Wild Rumpus will benefit Athens Area Homeless Shelter.
