'Present and Accounted For: 1968 - 2018' Exhibition at Lyndon House Arts Center

The Lyndon House Arts Center will present the upcoming exhibition of works by the US Artist Collective entitled Present and Accounted For: 1968 - 2018. In 1968 Darlyne Killian became the first African American student to graduate with an art degree from the University of Georgia. 20 years later, her legacy was embodied in the student founders of the US Artist Collective, a predominately African American collective that served to make visible the works of artists underrepresented in UGA.

This contemporary gathering of pieces by many of the original members addresses current social concerns around "otherness", race, sexuality, gender, safety, access and agency. The current American political climate and the historic legacies of discrimination continue to have consequences to the physical and emotional health of our society. Present & Accounted For looks boldly and unflinchingly at these issues that shape, transform, challenge, and define our humanity.

Among the artists and artworks included are Atiba Wade, who will be exhibiting photographs, Sara O'Brien with an original music composition, sculpture by Janssen Robinson, J Chase Campbell's shadow box works, Rodrecas Davis's fabric collage works, paintings by David Gresham and wall hangings by Jerushia Graham will exhibit.
The exhibition is on display August 25-October 14, 2018.  All exhibitions are free and open to the public during regular gallery hours of Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon to 9:00 p.m., and Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Children must be accompanied by an adult.  The opening reception is scheduled for Thursday, September 13 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
